Thera Cane Massager
By admin | December 1, 2009
As is already known to many people, the Thera Cane is simply a plain bar that is easy to hold in many different ways so as to apply pressure on specific points of your neck, back and shoulders etc in a very natural manner. The otherwise difficult to reach area can be approached with this simple device.
This well designed device comes with a manual that offers possible suggestions for holding the cane to establish the desired contact with different areas of the body. Once you have understood the basics as provided in the manual, you can try your hand to allow the cane to explore the far-reaching pain areas for getting relief.
While you use one arm as a pivot, the other may be used as a lever to pull-push the cane to reach most of the trigger points in the upper or mid back region. One may lean back on the Thera Cane, keeping it pinned against the seatback while working on the computer. In such a position your arms won’t be working much and only stabilize the cane as the weight of your upper body (while sitting back) offers the needed force for working on a trigger point or such an area.
In my case the Thera Cane has indeed offered me an ability of self-help. Ever since I started using it to take care of my chronic back pain, it has offered me a couple of important things that I narrate here:
1. Working on my trigger points in between my therapy sessions has been able to help me cutting on the prescribed drugs. Generally, I use the cane before taking medication when the pain flares up and the result is that pain is reduced considerably, enabling me to continue with my normal activities.
2. It helps me to classify locations of new or still-prominent trigger points before my forthcoming visit to the Physical Therapist.
3. Contrary to my own expectations, I feel more confident in better managing my present condition than before I started using the Thera Cane. That’s not to say that exercising or stretching is no good, but all those have their own plus features coupled with certain limitations. Here is a simple device that enables you to help yourself.
During my regular visits to friends and relatives, I carry the cane with me so that I can continue with my regimen of exercises with it. No body ever seemed bothered about my lifestyle. On the contrary, people have been appreciative of my efforts of learning to cope with my physical limitations and my attitude of taking self-help for myself.
